Binding up the Brokenhearted IV I don’t know what broke Jesus’ heart - maybe many things. Having a broken heart is not a sign of weakness; rather it is proof of being a true and complete human being. I suppose that, as us, until He got perspective, He had a hard time dealing with His heartbreaking moments. Perhaps, as us, He never really fully dealt with the moments that broke His heart. But I do know that He had to have those moments and periods of time. He can’t know and understand us unless he was a true...
Binding up the Brokenhearted III Jesus had those 18 years to experience all the highs and lows of life. And I’m sure He did. Did He fall in love? Did He laugh and sing and have fun with His friends? Did He experience the death of loved ones, including Joseph? Was He accomplished in His trade? Did He bear the stigma for the fact that His mother was not married at the time of His birth? “They that hate me without a cause” [Psalm 69.4] Did He make mistakes? “O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins...
Hearing the Word of God Last Sunday, as usual, Brother Randolph Beauregard, pastor of the Holy Uplifted Hands Southern Baptist Church, in my hometown of Stamford, Connecticut, asks if there are visitors. Well, that morning, Wilbert Wiseman, the church drunk of the Holy Offering Plate Roman Catholic Church, in my hometown of Stamford, Connecticut, was visiting. Up shot Wilbert’s hand as he declared, “I’m a visitor. My name is Wilbert Wiseman and I am a member of the Holy Offering Plate Roman Catholic Church...
Binding up the Brokenhearted II I’m not sure what happened to Jesus during the 18 years that are not recorded. I have my thoughts. But in Psalm 69 David describes Jesus as, basically, crying His eyes out. Why is this so important? It is important, because He must be one of us. I say that, not just in a flesh and blood sense, but that His life had to bring Him all the pain, suffering and brokenheartedness that we experience. Anything less and He was just playing at life. Anything less and it was just a ruse...
Binding up the Brokenhearted “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, …” [Luke 4.18] The above is when Jesus, at the start of His public life, reads from Isaiah [61.1] in the Synagogue in Nazareth. He had just been through His temptation in the wilderness and had not yet chosen His disciples. The...
Response to "Lover" Here’s a response from a dear friend – it’s pretty cool. “What you describe became my daily reality on December 1st, 2011. Cherub like people everywhere and everyone. Seeing Christ in ALL.”
When You Are A Lover When you are a lover you see more love more clearly. You see love in the details – in those throw-away moments. You see love when others don’t. When you are a lover you recognize Him everywhere and in all.
What is Freedom? When the Son sets you free – you are indeed free to be yourself. That is the opposite of license. Freedom then becomes your personal recognition of the mighty flow of eternal love, care and concern for your world through your humanity.
Understanding Freedom Until you are free and understand freedom, you will always confuse it with license.
Quiet In Church Last Sunday, Elizabeth Higgenbotham, the pre-school Sunday school teacher at the Holy Uplifted Hands Southern Baptist Church, in my hometown of Stamford, Connecticut, concluded her lecture on predestination. As the little students were lining up, ready to go to the church service, Ms. Higgenbotham thought to ask one more question. "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" Little Rupert Beauregard, son of Brother Randolph Beauregard, Pastor of the Holy Uplifted Hands Southern Baptist...
Understanding Pain You can’t know or understand another’s pain until you know and embrace your own.
Responses to “He Saved Others” Here are two responses I got: Love is its own reward, isn't it . . .? ….. And in the seeing and unfolding of reconciliation in each and every person we share the exquisite joy He experienced before and after the cross …… "Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross." Really, it's a continual and deep everlasting joy as He continues to die daily in us to redeem others. It’s total love of the Father being deeply satisfied within us. What a privilege!!! Earthly...
