    Little Children – not – Child-like III

    Little Children – not – Child-like III

“Little Children” enter the Kingdom because of Him.  We see in the New Testament little children drawn to Jesus.  That is true, not because He scared the “hell out of them “- as we do in the pulpit. He didn’t ask the little children if they considered where they might spend their eternity.  He didn’t tell them to get on their knees, confess their sins, ask to be forgiven and ask Him to come into their heart.  He wasn’t teaching or spouting doctrine, rules or laws of any kind.  He just loved them and they loved Him back and just wanted to be with Him

No wonder Jesus ran out of patience with the adults.  They wanted to discuss doctrine and argue with Him at every point.  Little children don’t do that.  Little children just know this Man that loves them and accepts them without criticism, blame or judgment.  So, to the adults – the so-called mature and knowledgeable – He says, not in anger, but perhaps in frustration, “come to me as a little child would”.

And Jesus wanted all to come to Him for His person.  “… how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!”  [Matt. 23.37]  I know I came – not because of scripture verses, or doctrine or threats of hell – I came because I saw Him, as He loved me through those who knew Him before me.
