    Little Children – not – Child-like IV

    Little Children – not – Child-like IV

Jesus told those in attendance, in Matthew 18, that they needed to enter the Kingdom as little children.  We always want to generalize everything in the Bible as speaking to everyone at all times and that is not necessarily the way we should be interpreting scripture.   And, that’s just the entry point.  Nowhere are we instructed to then remain “child-like” from that point forward.  In fact we are directed otherwise, as Jesus said, “…be ye therefore wise as serpents …” [Matt. 10.16]

But, here’s the attitude indicated by my friend when expressing the thought of being “child-like” – a child is a baby.  We are not to be that way.  We are to be mature and know who we are and Who we express.  He in us, as us. is mature and not “child-like” at all.  Those who are “child-like” are for themselves - “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” [2 Tim. 3.7]  You know what I’m talking about.  “Learning and growing”, “growing and learning” yet always a “sandwich short of a picnic” – never really there yet.  You know the type - always bemoaning sins they can’t deal with or whatever.

Come on folks, that's baby talk. Let’s step up to the plate, as said in baseball, and be who we are, not “child-like” immature babies.  We may enter as “little children”, but we can’t stay there.  We must go on to see and understand our union.  Mature talk is where we need to go.  “I am Him in my world.”  “I do love the unlovable.”  “I know that I am His agent and expression in this world.”
